I am writing this
blog a little different than the previous blogs I have written so far. This
particular gallery consists of two rooms in the shape of the letter L. I have
noticed that each time I come to this gallery the wall color is obviously
affected by the paintings that are hung on them. This does not surprise me at
all when I think about it. However, the reason I mention this is because of
multiple trips I have made here the creativity of the artists when they hang or
position their sculptures allows me to feel like I am entering a new
establishment each time. One of the ways this is done is that each artist as
they prepare for their show adjusts the lighting to enhance their images. When
I entered the gallery to see Vang’s work yesterday, on the first wall just
inside the main door I thought I was looking at paintings depicting Lupines.
Since I am originally from Alaska I thought I was seeing flowers from home and
got a warm fuzzy feeling inside of myself. I also, might as well let you know
before you see the painting, my favorite color is blue. Vang's use of complimentary colors in this oil painting and bridge tones bring this painting to life.
